In-Duct Air Purifier Installation Guide

Biozone In-Duct Air Purification units are fairly easy to install. We do recommend that you have an HVAC professional do the installation. However, if you are comfortable doing intermediate electrical wiring, you can install them yourself in less than an hour. Otherwise, an HVAC professional will usually do the job for a small fee. We are happy to answer any questions you or your installer have while installing the unit. Just give Biozone Tech Services a call toll free, Monday through Friday, 9 AM - 5 PM:800-827-8228

The units arrive with a standard electric plug attached. This is so that you can plug the unit in to verify that it is working properly before you install it. (Some people plug the unit into a standard wall plug located near their ductwork and air handler and never actually hard-wire the unit - this is perfectly acceptable).

SAFETY NOTICE: DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY INTO THE UV LAMP.

The unit should be installed near the supply plenum or a-coil of your HVAC system. All that's required is to drill a hole approximately 1 3/4" in diameter in the main air return duct so that the lamp on the Biozone Air Purifier will be centered in the air flow (as much as possible) and so that the lamp is in a horizontal position. Insert the lamp into the hole so that the lamp socket flange is protruding through the hole and the housing is abutting the duct. Then attach the transformer unit to the duct through the mounting arms with the included sheet metal screws, or use duct tape to hold the unit in place.

WIRING

Ideally, you should wire the unit in such a way that it is always "on" and, even more ideally, you should wire the circulating fan of your HVAC system so that it is running constantly as well. This actually reduces wear and tear on your fan unit and ensures that your central air purification system is always doing its job.

A complete wiring schematic and block diagram for a 24VAC Fan Circuit is included with each unit.
